Intruders apparently hacked Sarah Palin’s e-mail account after resetting her password. They knew enough about her to game the password system. Her messages and pictures were posted online.

Tennessee man hacked Palin, sites say
A Tennessee man is being named online as the Palin hijacker. David Kernell, 20, is a student. The hack was done through a proxy server. That hides the user’s identity. But the FBI can penetrate that.

Cable companies want to move DVRs online
Cable companies are moving toward network DVRs. People who want to record TV programming would not need their own DVRs. The movie association opposes this.

Hendrix, Metallica coming to Guitar Hero
Jimi Hendrix, a long dead performer, is coming to Guitar Hero. Metallica is, too. And people playing the games may get a music subscription service. Currently, gamers must buy songs.

Yahoo! is rebuilding its home page
Yahoo! is going forward with a long-promised overhaul of its home page. This page is the most heavily trafficked on the Web. A small group of users is currently testing the new page.

Google holds 63% of search business
Sixty-three percent of searches are on Google, according to ComScore. Yahoo! is second, at about 20 percent. Microsoft has only 8 percent. Some rivals are complaining about Google’s dominance.

Microsoft commercials made partly on Mac
Microsoft wants the “I’m a PC” phrase to resonate positively. So, it’s bringing out commercials to counter Apple’s. But parts of its commercials were produced on a Mac. Oops!

Maps pinpoint crime, cheap gas and more
