Wall Street Journal embraces social networking The Wall Street Journal is overhauling its WSJ.com. It will feature user profiles. The Journal hopes to draw a larger audience. Other papers are also adopting elements of social networking. Program tries to improve the patent system Peer-to-Patent will tap the public for new patent approval. Users can offer input on new patent applications. The program aims to cut down on dubious or obvious patents. Slate starts business news site TheBigMoney.com will be the outlet for Slate's business coverage. The site won't focus on breaking news. Rather, it will provide broader analysis of various markets. Hotels driven to upgrade in-room TVs Consumer demand is driving hotels to install HDTVs in rooms. But HDTV programming often is unavailable. Would HDTV availability affect your choice of hotel? Sound off on my Message Board. Studios form digital-distribution group Big-name studios have formed the Digital Entertainment Content Ecosystem. It may create a uniform standard for digital distribution. It may also change how companies handle copyright concerns. The move sparked outrage across the Web. Apple re-releases iTunes 8 for Vista Apple has re-released iTunes 8 to fix crashes in Windows Vista. A bad USB driver was blamed.
