MP3 players for around $100
Seeking advice is a good idea. I'll give you some suggestions. But look at several players. Trying them out will help you make the right decision. Many people jump straight for an iPod. It's a solid choice. And you can get one for under $100. But there are plenty of other players on the market. You can easily find a player that fits your needs. Apple iPod shuffle ($50-$70) Apple is the go-to company for music players. Many people find what they want in an iPod. As I said, it's a solid choice. However, the iPod shuffle is the only model under $100. The shuffle is about the size of a matchbook. And it has a built-in clip on the back. It's easy to clip to your shirt or drop in your pocket. It has no screen, which limits its functions. You can't see what's playing. And you can't scroll to find a song. It comes in 1GB ($50) and 2GB ($70) models. That's around 250 and 500 songs respectively. It works with AAC, WAV and MP3 formats. You must use iTunes to load the shuffle. The shuffle has a battery life of about 12 hours. SanDisk Sansa Fuze ($80-$120) The Sansa Fuze is a nice pocket-sized player. Its form factor is similar to the third generation iPod nano. It comes in 2GB ($80), 4GB ($100) and 8GB ($120) models. It has 1.9-inch screen that's good for watching MPEG-4 video files. It supports MP3, WMA and other audio formats. It can also store and display JPEG photos. Some of its extra features may entice you. It has a built-in FM radio. You can create up to 40 station presets. The built-in voice recorder is great for personal notes or class lectures. Its 24-hour battery life easily trumps the iPod shuffle. And you can get one in five different colors. Creative Zen Mozaic ($60-$150) The Zen Mozaic is a full-featured music player. It comes in 2GB ($60), 4GB ($80) and 8GB ($100) models. There is also a 16GB model, at $150. It can display JPEG photos and video on its 1.8-inch screen. Videos must be converted with the included software. It plays a number of audio formats, including MP3, WMA and others. The Mozaic has a ton of features. You can listen to your integrated FM radio. It has a built-in voice recorder. It can be used as an alarm clock. You can also store and view your schedule and contacts. You can play your music out loud with it's built-in speaker. It's great for long trips with an estimated 32-hour battery life. Samsung S3 ($80) The Samsung S3 has a flashy interface. The glowing, touch-sensitive controls disappear when not in use. The menus and functions are all accompanied by on-screen animations. The S3 comes in a single 4GB ($80) model. It supports MP3, WMA and Ogg audio formats. It has a 1.8-inch screen. It can display JPEG photos. But the included software must convert all videos. It has a built-in FM radio with a very cool feature. It scans the entire FM range on startup. It then puts all available stations into presets. This makes it easy to surf the dial. More on MP3 players:
